Entry: Tent Manufacturing
Location: Santiago de Chile
Size: 25 x 35m
Fabric: Ferrari 502 Preconstraint

Project Description

The goal was to create an advanced mechanization system for a temporary structure that allowed for the mid-panels to be mechanically retracted without the use of manual labor.

The purpose of this project was to create a one-of-a-kind experience for guests sitting under the tent by removing the panels so that they could see the firework show on display without having to leave the tent.

We had to bring together a cross-disciplinary team and task them with creating something that had yet to be done on a tent. Finding motors that were quiet and powerful enough to pull the fabric through the tracks and finding a way to make sure the fabric didn’t catch were the main challenges in this project. This video lets you hear how quiet the motors were and see how smoothly the fabric moved.
