Project Description

The custom “Centro” structure included white tensioned fabric roof panels, and an aluminum and steel hybrid frame that was secured using helical augers and concrete weights. Guttering and downspout systems were deployed throughout the structure to properly seal the interior. Engineered custom modular temporary glass wall and insulated hard wall systems encompassed the enclosure of the structure. The effectiveness of this insulation was essential for the client as they wanted to minimize the amount of HVAC energy waste during the hot summer months. Options included in the install were a modified HVAC system, code compliant handrails, a temporary ADA compliant ramp, plumbing connections and modular glass doors with life safety packages. The structure had to be engineered to meet the requirements for Temporary Structures in the City of Miami. This presented a struggle, as the client intended to only have the structure up for less than two years. The “Centro” structure was a perfect solution, and it not only provided the engineered requirements by the city, but also the aesthetics required by the client. The ethos of the structure’s design also gives the client the flexibility to relocate the structure as needed. This was also an essential requirement in the design as they plan to expand their brand throughout the United States over the next five years.
